Gathering Description

We promised we were different, so here it is. A different kind of dinner party. An evening to lean into the more vulnerable side of life: to tell a story that might surprise us, and maybe even surprise yourself. How it works: A personal prompt will be drawn to the tune of: “Tell me a story about…” No one knows the prompt ahead of time; not even us. We'll take a few quiet moments to see what comes to mind. Then, one by one, each person will have a turn to tell a story from their own life. And we mean a story. Not a lesson you've learned or advice you'd give. Not your best friend's story or a perfectly packaged takeaway. Just something that happened to you. Could be funny; maybe it's awkward. Possibly it's something you've never thought to tell anyone before. Maybe you understand it differently now than you did when it happened. You choose how deeply you want to take the prompt. The Agreement You'll receive the full 13 Stories guidelines before the gathering, but there are three things you should know before registering: If you come, you share. If you're not sharing, you're listening. No follow-up questions, no advice, and no judgment. These aren't suggestions; they're what make this gathering work. We're giving each other the rare opportunity to speak without needing to perform, explain, defend, or fix anything. By registering, you're agreeing to help create and respect that space for everyone. If this format doesn't feel right for you, this probably isn't the gathering to attend and that's okay. There will be plenty of other ways to gather with us. Come curious, willing to listen, and with a story you don't know you have yet.
